A couple of weeks ago, Beck and I visited my old home town of Merrigum to participate in the annual Merrigum Heritage Day. Occupying the Merrigum Heritage Museum, the day was filled with a huge variety of displays and demonstrations. Butter churning, metalwork, woodwork, vintage engines and much more were all on offer.
A personal highlight was opposite us was one of the only female cricket bat makers in the world. Showcasing her skills by making a bat over the course of the day all using only hand tools.

Beck and I created a special design for the day. Passers by were able to operate the pair of Adana 8x5 Platen presses we had set up with type in one using black ink, and a lino cut of the Merrigum Museum in a dark heritage red. People were able to take their print with them, or a pre-dried one we printed earlier.
We used some wooden type that was in the collection. You will notice the 'i' in Merrigum was wider. It's a different font, but we really wanted to use this interesting font. It's supposed to be playful and we used type that's probably fairly old!
I had a little bit of trouble with the small details on the lino, since it was a fairly small block at about 4.5cm high.

Overall, we had a great day and will be hopefully returning next year with an Adana Quarto from around 1927 that I am restoring currently.
Have a great week!
