Charcoal Drawings (Selected)

Drawing has always been the foundation of my artistic practice. Before turning seriously to painting, I spent years developing my observational drawing skills through pencil, charcoal, and life drawing. This collection includes charcoal drawings, figurative studies, landscape sketches, and animal portraits, each exploring light, form, and structure through direct observation.
My charcoal drawings are created using willow charcoal, compressed charcoal, and white chalk, with highlights often lifted back into the paper using an eraser. These works focus on atmosphere, contrast, and expressive mark making while maintaining strong anatomical and structural accuracy.
Alongside finished drawings, this gallery also includes sketchbook studies and preparatory drawings that form the basis for larger paintings and printmaking projects. Animals have been a lifelong fascination, and many of these pencil and charcoal drawings celebrate their character, movement, and individuality.
